Sporting Events during the Vancouver Olympics

Some of the Olympic events that you can attend during the Vancouver Olympics include alpine skiing, bobsleigh, cross-country skiing, figure skating, freestyle skiing, speed skating, ski jumping and many, many more.

Paralympic events include wheelchair curling, paralympic cross-country skiing, paralympic biathlon and paralympic alpine skiing.

There are of course many other winter sporting events like Texas spirit arena that you will find at the Olympics 2010.
Many of the popular favorites will be there, such as the snowboarding events, short track speed skating, luge, skeleton, nordic combined and the ever popular ice hockey.

These winter events are sure to please those attending the Vancouver Olympics, as there are many promising athletes that are certain to make this Olympic event one to remember.

Sporting Event Venues for the 2010 Olympic Games

The Olympic venues that have been chosen for the Olympics 2010 are sure to provide a spectacular background for the 2010 winter Olympics.

Vancouver locations include Canada Hockey Place, the Vancouver Olympic Centre/Paralympic Centre, UBC Thunderbird Arena, United Spirit Arena and Pacific Coliseum.

There will also be Olympic venues located in Whistler, Richmond and West Vancouver as well.

These venues include the Whistler Sliding Centre, the Whistler Olympic Park/Paralympic Park and the Richmond Olympic Oval.

There are also some Olympic venues that are non-competition related. These venues are primarily housing for the athletes, storage facilities and media centers.

While some of these locations will not be open to the general public, some locations will be and you will be able to attend some activities that take place there.

All of the non-competition venues that will host Olympic activities are located either within Vancouver or Whistler.

Make Your Travel Plans Now

Now is the time to start making your travel and lodging arrangements if you plan to attend the Olympics in Vancouver in 2010.

Lodging opportunities will fill up fast, and in fact, many locations already have reservations in place for those that have decided to plan ahead especially places to stay that are close to Olympic event sites.

Getting tickets to attend the 2010 Olympic games will be a little more difficult, and will be something that you may not be able to do right away.

While some tickets have already been sold, there is a hold placed on ticket purchases at this time, and they will not be available until sometime in mid-2009.

You can however start to determine which spirit arena events you want to attend during the Olympics 2010, as some competition schedules have already been decided.

Just keep in mind that these dates are subject to change, so the dates that have been set so far are not yet set in stone.
